Hurghada was once a small fishing village and until relatively
recently has remained that way, yet it has now turned into the one of the
largest tourist areas in Egypt due to its clear blue seas and sandy beaches; the
town centre however, has managed to retain some of its traditional charm and
character.
This resort is one of the most popular for scuba diving in the Red Sea. The
Giftun Islands are a must-see place to visit owing to the surrounding coral
reefs making it a popular snorkelling spot. The islands also have beautiful
beaches to relax on, a beach volleyball ground and a dive centre making them a
great day trip.
